FRANCE DENIES THE NEW UNFOUNDED ACCUSATION BY THE PUTSCHISTS IN NIGER

"France firmly denies the new unfounded accusations by the putschists in Niger.
The French soldiers positioned in Niger are there at the request of the legitimate Nigerien authorities, to fight against the terrorist groups which destabilize the region and martyrize the populations in the Sahel.
These statements against France constitute a new attempt at diversion, at a time when ECOWAS is increasing mediation efforts to restore constitutional order in Niger.
The air movement carried out today in Niger was the subject of a prior agreement and technical coordination with the Nigerien forces, authorization confirmed in writing. No attack against a Nigerien camp took place. No terrorist has been released by the French forces who have been fighting against this scourge for many years in the Sahel at the risk of the lives of their soldiers." PRESS RELEASE ON THE POLITICAL SITUATION IN NIGER
The mission was aborted following a late-night communication from the military authorities in Niger indicating their unavailability to receive the tripartite delegation. ECOWAS Commission wishes to inform that the ECOWAS-AU-UN Mission to the Republic of Niger did not take place on Tuesday, 8 August 2023. The planned mission was part of the continued efforts to find a peaceful resolution to the current crisis in Niger.
