Spain reminds women and girls in the hands of Boko Haram

USPA NEWS - A year after the kidnapping of more than 200 students in the town of Chibok, northeastern Nigeria, Spain wants to remind all women and girls who have been kidnapped by the terrorist group Boko Haram, said Spanish government.

The victims of this terrorist group are used "as despicable and vile purpose" in its campaign of terror on the people of Nigeria and other neighboring countries, says the Spanish Government in a press release. Spain expresses its solidarity with the families of the kidnapped students, want an early release of the same and confirms, once again, their support to the Nigerian authorities in their fight against terrorism.

In line with Resolution 1325 of the Security Council of UN on Women, Peace and Security, Spain urges Nigeria and other countries in the region to continue working for peace in the Northeast and the Lake Chad, considering the effect disproportionate and unique of armed conflict on women and girls, also highlighting the critical role that women play in building peace.

Boko Haram is one of the most active terrorist groups in Africa. Recently, their leader swore allegiance to the Islamic State and pledged to continue fighting for the spread of Islamic radicalism in the African continent.
