APICHATPONG WEERASETHAKUL AN INDEPENDENT FILMMAKER THAI WON CANNES PRIZE IN 2002--------- Born in Bangkok in 1970, Apichatpong Weerasethakul works and lives in Chiang Mai, Thailand. He obtained a degree of architecture at the University of Khon Kaen in northern Thailand and a Masters in Cinema from the Art Institute of Chicago in 1994. He directed short films since 1994, and his first feature film in 2000. in 1999, he founded Kick the machine, a production company dedicated to the promotion of its own projects and those of other independent filmmakers Thai.
